You Have Got To Be Kidding!

I was watching the news this morning and found out that some States In America are paying kids to go to school! No I am not pulling your collective legs, some kids are winning shopping sprees, new cars, laptop computers, and who knows what else just for going to school.

Now this might help attendance and all, but is this good for students? Some how I don’t think so, all that schools seem to be encouraging is for students to show up for class. But what happens after the students are in class, are the students who don’t care to begin with going to work harder or not?

Basically I think that this is a vary bad idea, I attended pre-K and 4 and less then a half years of collage with no extra incentive and for the most part I have done fine. Not to say that good students shouldn’t be reworded, because I think that they should be recognized for academic achievements (most if not all schools have ways of doing this already).

So what will the reproductions of this system be? Well if its used in a way that has less to do with rewording students for just showing up and in a way that rewords good students over bad ones, it would become a good system. However there is always the risk of someone being reworded who doesn’t disserve it.
